Maroons extend win streak to five after weekend games

The Chatham Maroons picked up another two wins over the long weekend.

The first was a 4-3 victory, at home, on Sunday against the Listowel Cyclones.

Boris Genov opened the scoring less than seven minutes into the game, with his fourth goal of the season. Getting the assists were Alexander Lisi and Ian Lachance.

Aydan Doyle doubled the lead later in the period. His ninth goal was assisted by Jaxon Priddle and Lisi.

The second period saw Carter Chadwick get his 26th goal from Aidan Edwards and Ewan McChesney.

Braeden Burke scored the Maroons' fourth goal of the game early in the third period. His second goal of the season was assisted by Priddle.

Listowel would fight back with three late goals, but they weren't able to tie up the game.

Samuel DiBlasi made 35 saves for the win.

The Maroons were back in action the next day, on the road, against the Komoka Kings. Despite little rest, the Maroons won 6-3.

It was Komoka who opened the scoring late in the first period; however, Priddle would tie the game before the intermission. His 17th goal was assisted by Lachance and Burke.

The second period saw the Maroons score three goals.

The first was by Chadwick, assisted by Genov and Edwards.

Trevor Zanutto later got his 30th goal with help from Genov and Edwards, before he scored another from Chadwick and Doyle.

The Maroons added two more goals in the third period. Burke scored his third of the season from Matthew Crawford and Lachance, before Priddle found an empty net from McChesney.

DiBlasi made 22 saves for the win.

The Maroons won't be back in action until Saturday, when they travel to Strathroy to take on the Rockets. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
