Chatham goalie enjoying first professional season with Toronto Sceptres

Chatham's Jessie McPherson is still adjusting to her new life as a professional hockey player.

The Toronto Sceptres goalie is back home for the Olympic Break and took time on Tuesday to meet up with some fans at William K. Erickson Arena.

It was here that McPherson saw a minor hockey player wearing her jersey. She told CK News Today that she was caught a bit off guard.

"It's awesome to see, and it's inspiring to me... it motivates me to be better for them," she said.

McPherson is currently in her first season with the Sceptres. While she hasn't hit the ice just yet, she was able to suit up as the backup during a game in Boston against the Fleet.

"It was incredible, being with my teammates [who were] cheering me on, they were all happy for me," added McPherson.

This experience hasn't satisfied the itch to get back on the ice during an actual game. That said, McPherson remains happy with her current role, as she gets to learn from some of the best goalies in the world.
