Chatham's Ethan Jordan looks to lead Laurier to Vanier Cup

It has been a while since Chatham's Ethan Jordan and the Laurier Golden Hawks tasted defeat on the football field.

The Golden Hawks are riding a perfect 8-0 regular season, a win in the OUA semifinals, and a big 51-31 win over the Western Mustangs in the Yates Cup last weekend as they head to Coulter Field in Lennoxville, Quebec for the Uteck Bowl (also the U SPORTS national semifinal).

Laurier will face the Bishop's Gaiters at 12 p.m. on Saturday with the winner heading to the Vanier Cup in Kingston for the U Sports Championship on November 23.

Earlier this season, Jordan became the first Laurier Golden Hawks receiver to reach 1,000 yards in a season. He also caught a touchdown for Laurier in the Yates Cup win over Western.

Another former Chatham-Kent Cougar will likely be joining the Golden Hawks in Quebec, but he'll have to watch this game from the sidelines after suffering an injury in the team's last game.

Darion Bacik-Hadden, who usually carries the ball as a runner, threw a touchdown for the Golden Hawks before he went down with a lower-body injury in their Yates Cup win.

The team later shared a tweet showing Bacik-Hadden recovering in hospital after surgery, holding the game ball.

Saturday's Uteck Bowl between the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Bishop's Gaiters will be livestreamed online on CBC Gem. You can find that stream by clicking here.

Tickets are also on sale for Saturday's U SPORTS semifinal and you can find those by clicking here.
