Summer McIntosh captures gold medal in the pool at Paris Olympics

Canada's best medal hopeful heading into the Olympics has captured her second medal of the games.

Summer McIntosh, who already earned a silver medal in the 400 metre freestyle on July 27, has taken gold in the 400 metre individual medley.

McIntosh was already the world record holder in the event coming into the games.

The 17-year-old from Toronto will also compete in the 200 metre butterfly, the 200 metre individual medley on July 31 and August 2, respectively. She was also on the Canadian team that finished 4th in the women's 4x100 metre freestyle relay on July 27.

This is the second olympic games for McIntosh, who was the youngest member on Team Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021 during COVID-19 restrictions.
