Maroons ready to vie for Sutherland Cup

The Chatham Maroons have a chance to win the Sutherland Cup on home ice.

After clinching the GOJHL Western Conference Champion title earlier this month, the Maroons moved on to the Sutherland Cup round-robin tournament where they faced the Cambridge Redhawks and the St. Catharines Falcons.

The Maroons placed second in the tournament with a 2-2 record and will now face off against the Falcons in the Sutherland Cup final.

The best of the three series kicks off on Friday evening. Since the Falcons placed first with a 3-1 record, they earned a home-ice advantage.

The Maroons will travel to St. Catharines for Game 1 at 7 p.m. at Jack Gatecliff Arena.

If the Maroons win Friday night's game, they'll have a chance to take home the cup if they win Game 2 on Sunday night at Memorial Arena in Chatham with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.

If needed, Game 3 takes place on Tuesday, May 31 in St. Catharines at 7 p.m..

The Maroons have not won the Sutherland Cup since 1999. The last time the Maroons were in the Sutherland Cup Final was 2005.
