A Chatham-Kent councillor is looking to extend his political career past one term.
Conor Allin is officially running again, this time in Ward 8, which covers people in the southern part of Chatham.
He was first elected in 2022, receiving the third most votes amongst 16 candidates in Chatham's only Ward.
Allin told CK News Today that he's running again for two reasons: to continue the work started in his first term and for his kids.
"They always ask that question, 'I can't wait to get out of Chatham, what's there to come back for?' I think now we've really started to build a foundation as to why you can stay in Chatham-Kent," he said.
There isn't one issue that he believes will be the most pressing for the next council. Though he thinks issues like housing, homelessness, and infrastructure will be heavily discussed.
"Those are all in the forefront, I would say," added Allin.
As for why people should vote for him again, Allin explained that he'll continue doing what he did in his first term, voting for what he believes is best for taxpayers.
"At the end of the day, that's the biggest thing. People always talk about their taxes, why they're raising, and for me to be able to showcase where we're doing things, why we're doing things, and why we're spending money this way," he explained.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
