Reported break and enter leads to multiple charges
An alert citizen's report to police resulted in arrest.
Chatham-Kent police were contacted shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, for the report of a man coming out of a business that hadn't opened for the day.
When officers arrived at the McGregor Place address they spotted an open door that had been damaged.
Using the witnesses description, police said they found the suspect and attempted to arrest thim.
The 26-year-old allegedly resisted arrest, pushing the officers away.
While he didn't use it, police said a collapsible knife was found on the suspect during a search. This violated a court order that banned the man from having a weapon.
The man faces charges including breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order. He was held in police custody pending bail.
