Several school board trustees in Chatham-Kent (CK) have already been acclaimed ahead of October's municipal election.
The nomination period closed on August 21, with 19 people putting their names forward for positions on four different school boards.
Six have already been acclaimed, since they were the only ones to run in their wards.
The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) received the most candidates, with 10 trying to fill five local trustee positions.
People living in South Kent, West Kent, and East Kent will choose between D. Randy Campbell, David Pelgrims, Chris White, and Joselyn Young Cormier. The top two vote-getters will be elected as trustees.
Those in North Kent and Wallaceburg can either vote for Anna Cairns or Jason Nantais.
The last two trustee positions will be chosen by people in Chatham. They'll choose between Tracy Bernicky, Barb Pelgrims, David Pierce, and Ellen Sinclair.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) won't be taking part in the election, as each local trustee position has already been filled.
Brenda Rumble will represent families in South West Kent and South East Kent; Jacqueline Rowe will represent families in North East Kent, St. Clair Township, and Dawn-Euphemia Township; John Van Heck will represent families in North West Kent and Wallaceburg, while David Argenti will represent families in Chatham.
When it came to the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, David Paradis was the only person who registered for the election, automatically giving him the job.
The Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence saw three people file for the election. Doris Sauvé and David Tremblay are each running to represent West Kent, Pelee, Leamington, and Lakeshore, while Bob Demers has already been acclaimed to represent the rest of CK.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
