Great turnout at 3rd annual CK Crime Stoppers golf tournament

Chatham-Kent (CK) Crime Stoppers had another successful golf tournament this year to raise money to support local crime prevention initiatives.

The third annual tourney, held at Maple City Country Club in Chatham a couple of weeks ago, raised $35,000 that will go towards different CK Crime Stoppers programs and initiatives to create awareness and provide prevention tips, mainly around guns and gangs, auto thefts, and break and enters this year.

“This year we have a focus on three important education topics based on local and national trends. The three topics are Guns, Gangs, and Violence Awareness; Auto Theft Prevention; and Break and Enter Prevention,” said Erica McIntosh, Coordinator for Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers. “Of course, we remain active in supporting all activities to reduce crime and work with groups across the municipality to provide timely support.”

CK Crime Stoppers said the annual event has become one of the organization's signature fundraisers, providing an opportunity for businesses, community leaders, and residents to come together in support of a safer Chatham-Kent.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it has been a wonderful success. Thank you to our sponsors and to the people who have come out to play. It is through your generosity and dedication that we are able to help continue to make Chatham-Kent a safer community for everyone," said McIntosh. “The event has raised over $35,000 and those funds go directly into supporting our anonymous tips program, education initiatives, and community outreach activities such as the Children’s Safety Expo.”

CK Crime Stoppers is a charitable organization and relies entirely on community support to operate.

Residents are encouraged to report information about criminal activity without fear of retaliation through a secure and anonymous way to submit tips. Anyone with information about a crime can submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers at www.ckcrimestoppers.ca.
