More Than $445K announced for CK seniors active living centres

More seniors active living centres in Chatham-Kent are getting more provincial funding to help local seniors stay active, healthy, engaged, and connected in their communities.

Chatham-Kent–Leamington MPP Trevor Jones has announced a total of $446,402 in provincial funding to support eight seniors centres across CK.

Jones said the funding will help the centres continue delivering programs and services that promote healthy aging, social inclusion, physical activity, and independent living for older adults close to home.

“Seniors Active Living Centres play an important role in helping older adults stay active, engaged, and connected within their communities,” said Jones. “This investment will ensure that more seniors in Chatham-Kent–Leamington have access to programs and services that support healthy, independent living while fostering meaningful social connections close to home.”

The following seniors centres received funding:

Blenheim & Community Senior Citizens Group $56,839

Club De L’age D’or Le Foyer Pointe-Aux-Roches $55,598

Leamington and District Half-Century Centre $56,425

Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham $56,770

Morpeth Heritage 60+ Club $55,528

Ridgetown and Area Adult Activity Centre $57,602

Tilbury and District Seniors Adult Centre Association (Leisure Centre) $55,000

Leamington & District Half Century Centre (Wheatley & District Friendship Club) $52,640

The province noted this year's funding is the largest in Ontario's history, with a record $23 million this year to support 416 Seniors Active Living Centre programs across the province.

Last week, seniors active living centres in Thamesville and Wallaceburg shared $95,000 in provincial cash.
