Pain Court man caught driving nearly 100 km/h over speed limit

A driver is lucky to be alive after being caught driving nearly 100 km/h over the speed limit.

On Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police received a call about a white pickup truck speeding at an alarming rate on Pioneer Line between St. Clair Road and Prince Albert Road, just outside of Chatham.

The driver was gone before police arrived, but officers decided to monitor the area to try to catch them in the act.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, officers caught the truck traveling at 175 km/h, despite the speed limit being 80 km/h.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Pain Court, was ticketed for speeding and stunt driving. His vehicle has been impounded for two weeks, while his licence has been suspended for 30 days.
