As Chatham-Kent's (CK) municipal election gets closer, a councillor is asking for a detailed report on how each member of council has participated during the term.
On Monday night, Councillor Ryan Doyle announced a notice of motion that would have staff create a detailed report on how many agenda items were pulled, how many motions were made, and how many successful motions were made by each member of council.
Throughout the term, Doyle has been very vocal at budget meetings about his dislike of raising taxes. His motion asks the report to also include how many motions during budget discussions were made, and how many successful motions were made during budget meetings by each councillor and the mayor.
CK News Today reached out to Ryan Doyle for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publishing.
According to Doyle's motion, he believes some people vote specifically for people who want to lower taxes. This motion is meant to showcase how each member participated in that feat, illustrating who has attempted to bring change to the municipality, and who worked to gather information on items that improve the community.
His motion will be discussed at the next meeting. If approved, the report will be brought before the council at the September 14 meeting.
Doyle has yet to announce if he will be running for council again in the upcoming election.
