Wallaceburg will have at least one new face on Chatham-Kent's (CK) next municipal council.
Aaron Hall won't be running again this fall after serving two terms as one of Wallaceburg's two representatives.
He was first elected in 2018 and then acclaimed before the 2022 election, as he was one of just two people to put their name forward.
Hall told CK News Today that his plan from the very start was to call it quits after serving for eight years.
"I'm going to follow through with that, step aside, and let some new people step up and serve our community," he added.
Hall explained that he decided to try his hand at municipal politics to ensure Wallaceburg continued to receive proper representation.
"There's been some great Councillors that Wallaceburg has had in the past, with Councillor (Jeff) Wesley and Councillor (Sheldon) Parsons," he said.
He replaced Wesley in 2018 after he decided not to run again.
Hall also had kind things to say about fellow Councillor Carmen McGregor. The two have been Wallaceburg's representative on council over the past two terms, with McGregor serving since 2014.
When asked about what he's most proud of during his time on council, Hall was quick to mention the Wallaceburg South Side Secondary Plan and the ongoing support for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) in Wallaceburg.
He believes these are two projects that will positively impact Wallaceburg for decades to come.
Hall also offered some advice to anyone considering running in the upcoming election. He explained that you don't have to be an expert in municipal politics, just someone who wants to better the lives of everyone in CK.
"You don't have to know every single detail. There's a great staff that's part of the municipality, they're there to help councillors," said Hall.
His time as a councillor will officially end when a new council is elected on October 26.
