McGrail won't be running again for CK council

Ward 4 Councillor Jamie McGrail will be checking out of the chambers.

Her name will not be on the ballot come October 26.

Having served two terms with Chatham-Kent council, McGrail cited the changing political landscape as a main reason for her decision to not run for re-election.

"It's time for me to say thank you, but no thank you... politics has very much changed from the last two terms, I'm just not interested in running again," she explained.

Overall, McGrail explained that she no longer has joy for the job.

Although she won't be on council anymore, she said she'll still be out and about.

"I will always love my community and Chatham-Kent. This doesn't mean that you won't see me in some kind of capacity... it's just not going to be in this capacity," she assured.

When it comes to the next council, McGrail hopes for a blend of veterans and young blood.

"There needs to be a mix, because we need to help each other... I hope to see the work moving forward, and Chatham-Kent still moving forward and working with each other," she added.

McGrail made sure to bid farewell to her fellow councillors.

"I wish everyone luck, and I wish everyone a smooth transition and a prosperous next term," she said.

McGrail confirmed her decision to CK News Today, hours after fellow Ward 4 councillor Rhonda Jubenville confirmed she would be running.
