CKHAF 'March Matchness' fundraising campaign brings in almost $195K

The month of March saw $194,402 in donations for two important Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) healthcare priorities.

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) announced the 'March Matchness' fundraising total on Wednesday.

"This was truly a community effort, and we are so proud of what we accomplished together in just one month," said CKHAF President and CEO Christine Mitchell.

Nearly 500 gifts from community members and groups totalled $94,402.

The additional $100,000 came from longtime healthcare champions Bob and Robin Hockney, who vowed to match any donations made throughout the month.

"Bob and Robin's leadership created a powerful opportunity for people to give, and our community responded in an incredible way," Mitchell said. "The momentum we saw throughout March speaks volumes about the generosity and compassion that exists here in Chatham-Kent."

Proceeds from 'March Matchness' to go toward enhanced Mammography Services at CKHA's Chatham site and the 'Our Hospital, Our Future' redevelopment campaign at the Wallaceburg site.

Donations, including a $10,000 gift from 100 Women Who Care Chatham-Kent, directed toward enhanced Mammography Services will support access to modern breast imaging technology and early detection, ensuring high-quality breast health care is available close to home. Support for the Wallaceburg Redevelopment Campaign will help advance ongoing efforts to modernize the Wallaceburg hospital site.

"The success of March Matchness is something to celebrate, and it's also a reminder that this important work continues," Mitchell noted. "There is still more to be done to ensure our hospital has the equipment, spaces, and resources needed to provide exceptional care. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make this campaign such a success."
