Third annual Cornhole for Hospice tournament raises over $76K

A day full of fun and friendly competition raised $76,574 for residential hospice care and grief and bereavement support in Chatham-Kent.

The third annual Cornhole for Hospice tournament took place at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre on Saturday. Teams of all skill levels took part in a round robin competition, with 50 two-person teams moving on to the elimination rounds.

Larry McKinney and Chad Grant of CF Industries claimed the top spot, in the "best of the best" division, taking home a championship trophy and a $500 prize. In the "best of the rest" division, Jay Charette and Bobby Pickering of Shuck Dynasty came out on top, winning a $250 prize.

"We are so grateful for all of the teams who came out to support this event, as well as all of the donors and sponsors who made Cornhole for Hospice such a success," said Brock McGregor Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. "The community support we receive is fundamental to continuing to provide compassionate end-of-life care at no cost in Chatham-Kent."

The Chatham-Kent Hospice requires $182,000 in donations each month for operating costs. The 10-bed residential facility has provided end-of-life hospice care to over 1,727 families and helped over 2,500 individuals with grief and bereavement support since it opened it's doors in 2016.
