Weapons Charges

A Wallaceburg man is facing charges after allegations that he threatened another man with a weapon in a parking lot in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 19-year-old unidentified man pulled out a knife during an argument and tried entering the 26-year-old Chatham victim's vehicle while uttering threats. It happened outside of a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham on Tuesday morning.

Police also alleged they found the accused sitting in his vehicle when officers arrived, with an 8-inch knife in a sheath attached to his belt, adding that a prohibited knife was also discovered in the vehicle.

The victim was not hurt, according to police.

House Arrest Violation

Multiple weapons and drug charges have been laid against a Leamington man after allegations that he violated his condition of house arrest.

Chatham-Kent police noted that the 43-year-old accused was also wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police in Essex County, Windsor Police, and London Police.

Police said he was arrested during a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg on Tuesday night, but the arrest wasn't easy.

Police alleged the suspect refused to get out of his vehicle or provide identification after pulling into a parking lot.

"Following negotiations by phone, the individual surrendered peacefully and was arrested," police said.

Police also alleged that a switchblade, methamphetamine, cocaine, and a quantity of cash were found in the vehicle.

The suspect was charged with flight from police, obstructing police, possession of illegal drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order, and failing to comply with a probation order.
