Localized flooding possible upstream of Kent Bridge Road

Ice breakups may lead to water surges and localized flooding upstream of Kent Bridge Road, according to a message from the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA).

According to the announcement, last weeks warm weather have lead to the ice breaks which can get hung up at bends of the Thames River where ice remains thick.

Slippery banks, unstable ice conditions, and fast-moving cold water can be dangerous, explained the announcement. People should avoid flooded areas.

LTVA officials will continue to monitor the situation. This advisory is in effect until Monday.
