It could be a windy, blustery day on Friday in much of southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued a yellow advisory for blowing snow across Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and midwestern Ontario on Thursday.
The weather agency said the winds will likely be accompanied by new snowfall.
"A low-pressure system will push into the region on Friday, which will bring snow across the areas with four to eight centimetres possible by Friday evening," read the advisory. "Strong northwesterly winds will develop behind the low, which will lead to widespread blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility. Visibility may even be near zero for wind-prone and exposed areas."
Wind gusts in some areas may reach 80 kilometres per hour.
*On Friday, the yellow advisory was upgraded to an orange blizzard warning for north and east Lambton, Wingham, Strathroy, Goderich, and Southern Huron County. These areas could see 15 to 20 centimetres of snow by Saturday morning.
Environment Canada also said the City of London is not expected to see blizzard conditions but will see significantly reduced visibility from local blowing snow.
Temperatures are also expected to drop throughout the day on Friday, as a new system of arctic air moves into the region. Dangerously low wind chills are possible Friday night and Saturday morning.
