Freezing drizzle and blowing snow cancels school buses in Chatham-Kent

Some students in Chatham-Kent are getting an early start to the weekend.

School buses in all zones are cancelled today as a winter storm system rolls through the region.

A freezing drizzle and blowing snow advisory is in effect for Chatham-Kent.

Environment Canada says light ice accumulation is expected this morning, making roads and sidewalks slippery.

The low-pressure system will then bring up to 8 centimetres of snow and wind gusts up to 80 kilometres an hour.

That will lead to blowing snow and significantly reduce visibility.

An arctic air mass will then move in tonight, drastically dropping temperatures.
