Impaired Driver Caught After Crash

A 29-year-old Dresden man is facing an impaired driving charge after crashing his truck.

Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police received an automatic crash alert on Glasgow Line in Tupperville.

When officers arrived, they found a truck around 10 feet down an embankment next to the Sydenham River. Police say the vehicle had veered off the road and struck a tree.

Paramedics were called for the driver, who reportedly refused to be transported to a nearby hospital.

Officers decided to arrest him after noticing he showed signs of being impaired. Two breath samples were taken, with both coming back above the legal limit.

The man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.

He's since been released with a future court date.
