Assault/Intimate Partner Violence Arrests

Chatham-Kent police had a busy weekend dealing with assault allegations, charging multiple people with various charges.

A 28-year-old Tupperville man was arrested and charged with assault on Friday after police alleged he assaulted a woman several times between 2024 and Friday when they responded to a report of Intimate Partner Violence.

Police alleged the incidents included the victim being choked during a dispute and other physical assaults.

Another report of Intimate Partner Violence led to a 26-year-old man from Harwich Township being arrested and charged with assault and criminal harassment just after midnight on Friday.

Police alleged the accused repeatedly attended a woman's home and continued to communicate with her despite being told the contact was not welcome.

The suspect is also accused of assaulting the woman in August, causing minor injuries, and previously being cautioned for criminal harassment in October.

Police also arrested and charged a 28-year-old from Chatham-Kent with assault on Friday after he allegedly assaulted a loss prevention officer at a retail store on St. Clair Street in Chatham the previous day.
