Chatham-Kent Toy Show and Sale celebrates 23 years

Kids and kids-at-heart will descend on Chatham in six days for the Chatham-Kent Toy Show and Sale.

"This show is Sunday, January 18th, it runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.," said organizer Rob Sterling. "So we're expecting about 75 vendors and about 25 displays."

A couple thousand people are expected to attend the show at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.

"We'll have well over 200 tables of toys for sale or on display," said Rob. "Everything from farm toys, cars, dolls, and trains. You name it, that type of toy is probably there."

Rob's father, Carl Sterling, said they also have some hands-on activities planned.

"Home Depot will be there with the kids workshop, so the kids can actually make some projects. Chatham Model Railroad will be there. Chatham-Kent Museum, Imagination Station and Art Spark. They were there last year, and I believe they have somewhere around 300 to 350 kids."

The show is now in its 23rd year, and Carl added that it's been amazing to watch it grow.

"It first started as a 4H event to raise funds, and it's just blossomed from there. From 15 tables, we're now over 200 tables."

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students, six and under at free. All the money raised goes to the 4H Club and Outreach for Hunger. Last year, they donated 85-hundred dollars to the Chatham food bank.
