Assault with a Weapon
A Chatham man is facing multiple charges following a disturbance on King Street East that led to a warrant and a police standoff.
CK police were first called to the area around 3:45 a.m. on November 1, 2025, after reports of a disturbance. Police say a verbal argument involving several people escalated into a physical confrontation.
Investigators determined that a 33-year-old man from Chatham allegedly struck a 42-year-old Chatham woman with a baseball bat.
The woman sustained injuries and was assessed at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. Police also learned the accused was under a court order at the time that prohibited him from possessing weapons.
When officers attempted to locate him following the incident, he refused to come out of his residence.
Police obtained a warrant for his arrest, charging him with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order.
On Sunday, officers returned to a residence on King Street East to execute a Feeny warrant.
After the accused again refused to exit the home, police established a perimeter and began negotiations, which continued for several hours.
Roughly four hours later, officers entered the residence and arrested the man without incident. No injuries were reported to police or members of the public.
The man remains in custody as he awaits a bail hearing.
