Chatham-Kent is at risk of getting some freezing rain on Tuesday.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, noting several hours of freezing rain are possible. The freezing rain is likely to begin Tuesday morning, with 1-2 millimetres of build-up possible.
The national weather agency reported the freezing rain, which may be mixed with snow or ice pellets, is expected to end by the afternoon, when it will change to rain as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
Areas along the Lake Erie shoreline may see very little ice accretion or build-up, according to Environment Canada.
However, weather officials noted that roads and walkways may become icy and slippery, adding that ice surfaces could be difficult to detect.
Entegrus said power outages could occur due to the ice build-up. The local utility is asking customers to take precautions, charge devices, and stay safe.
"If you see a downed power line, stay back 10 metres and call 911," noted Entegrus.
