Smile Cookie funds going towards Wallaceburg hospital redevelopment

Wallaceburg's hospital is receiving funding to help modernize through Tim Hortons' annual Smile Cookie campaign.

From November 17 to 23, proceeds from each cookie sold at the community's two Tim Hortons locations were donated to multiple causes.

In total, $7,900 was raised, with half going to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps and the rest to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF).

The CKHAF plans to use the funds in the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Redevelopment Campaign. This $9 million initiative aims to modernize the CKHA in Wallaceburg by expanding patient and treatment rooms, improving accessibility, purchasing new equipment, and more.

"We were especially grateful for the warm welcome and ongoing support from the Tim Hortons teams at both Wallaceburg locations. A heartfelt thank you to Shelley, a longtime Tim Hortons staff member, who generously volunteered her time all week because this cause is close to her heart. Her kindness and enthusiasm truly helped make the experience even more special," read a statement from CKHAF.

Staff with the CKHAF were officially presented a cheque with the funds on December 17.
