Mischief at oil well property leads to charges
A Leamington man wanted for theft and mischief at an oil well in Wheatley earlier this year has been arrested.
Chatham-Kent police say two men cut the padlock on an electrical cabinet at the property on Talbot Trail on February 12, 2025, causing daamge to the internal wiring.
The suspects also removed items from the property, and the investigation found they were connected to damage at a second well site.
Officers were able to identify the suspects thanks to video evidence, and warrants were issued.
A 37-year-old man was arrested by the Windsor Police Service on Tuesday and transferred to Chatham pending a bail hearing.
He's charged with mischief, possession of stolen property, and theft.
The other suspect, a 53-year-old man from Wheatley, was arrested on February 21. He remains in custody awaiting a future court date.

Bail violation
A Chatham-Kent man is facing new charges after police were called to a gas bar in Chatham on Tuesday night.
Staff at the business on Park Avenue East called police because a man was attempting to use a gas card but could not provide the required PIN.
Officers located the 31-year-old man and arrested him for allegedly breaching the conditions of his release.
A search uncovered a debit card that was not issued in his name. The man had previously been arrested on October 31 and released with conditions that prohibited him from possessing identification or banking documents unless they were lawfully issued in his name.
He's been charged with two counts of failing to comply and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
