The Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTC-CK) is looking for teams to play Boccia for the Kids.
The foundation is hosting a boccia tournament on Saturday, November 15, at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.
Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is a combination of bocce and curling, and can be played by people of all ages and abilities.
"It's with a soft ball, it's a team of two, and what you do is you take the ball and you throw it towards the centre," said Mike Genge, President & CEO of CTC-CK. "Kind of like curling in the sense of you want to be the person closest to the bobble in the middle."
No experience is required, and all rules and gameplay will be explained at the start. The cost for the tournament is $80 a person and includes lunch and a swag bag. Matches will be officiated using Paralympic boccia rules, with equipment will be provided.
All the money raised will go towards programs that are not funded by the government.
"All the things like Rec therapy, music therapy, Social Work, and equipment,"added Genge.
He explained that they have some teams coming from across the province to play, but everyone is invited to come try it out.
"It's something fun, it's something that is for our kids, and we'd love to get the community out to participate," said Genge. "It's our first year doing it, we want to make it an annual event, and we want to build on it, so we're excited about it."
