Recent changes to the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) mean getting screened for breast cancer has never been easier.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is encouraging everyone who is eligible to get screened.
Eligible individuals between the ages of 40 and 74 can now self-refer online to any of the 12 OBSP sites in the Erie St. Clair region, including the CKHA.
Appointments can be booked directly online or by calling 519-437-6089, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Regular breast cancer screening is important because early detection is one of the most effective ways to improve outcomes and save lives.
Diagnostic Imaging staff at the CKHA recently showed their support and raised awareness about breast health through the “Wednesdays, We Wear Pink!” initiative, which was organized by the Erie St. Clair Regional Cancer Program.
