Fight Leads to Assault Charges

Chatham-Kent (CK) police have charged a 48-year-old Ridgetown man for allegedly assaulting two people.

Just before 12 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to an event happening in South Buxton.

It's alleged that two men had gotten into a fight, with one man being injured. A second man was also injured after trying to intervene.

Both men were assessed by EMS, but didn't need any additional medical help.

Police later arrested the suspect, charging him with two counts of assault.

He's since been released from police custody with a future court date.

Robbery Suspect

A 21-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges, including assault, after allegedly stealing from a convenience store.

Back on Friday, CK police were called to a business on Grand Avenue West for a potential robbery.

When officers arrived, they were told that a man was attempting to buy some items when he started threatening another man with a weapon. It wasn't specified whether the victim was an employee or a customer.

The suspect reportedly left without paying for the items. Police later found the man with the stolen items.

It was later discovered that the man was prohibited from being at the business.

He's since been charged with armed robbery, assault with a weapon, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime, and more.

He remains in police custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
