Kat and Karissa Strain are back in the limelight in Chatham-Kent, but this time it's not for a movie project.
The sisters have created a local organization to gather period products for women and girls who struggle to access them.
"We started locally, 'Sisters 4 Sisters,' because we saw 'Moontime Connections' - a Canadian Indigenous-led organization - on social media, and they do their month-long campaign for period products to send up to the Northern Canadian communities who have barriers to access," explained Kat and Karissa. "We were like, let's start a local campaign and see what we can gather."
Kat and Karissa have partnered up with businesses around CK to host events which will make donating a little more fun and interactive.
"We can offer an experience or an event in trade for period product donations," Kat and Karissa added. "[We're] hoping our community can come out, get involved locally, and support northern communities as well."
The Strain sisters' first event is set to happen on Saturday.
"On Saturday, we have a lady love ride at Revolve Spin," the sisters stated.
The spin class begins at noon and will feature a playlist that matches the event. The event organizers ask that anyone who wants to participate, register beforehand as there is a limited number of bikes.
On Sunday, there will be a 'Makers 4 Menstruation' event at RAD Studio & Cafe on King Street in Chatham.
"We have a bunch of local people who make different products or crafts or clothing items come out and exchange a period product donation for a cupcake or a tea," the sisters explained.
On Thursday, March 27, the Sisters Strain have partnered with The Studio Sisters to host a 'Poetry & Periods' event. The following Saturday, the sisters will host a two hour introductory level boxing session.
"Once again, you can bring in some period products and learn a new skill," Karissa said.
Outside of the events, donations can be dropped off at a number of locations in Chatham, Ridgetown, and Wallaceburg.

Karissa and Kat plan to personally drive all the donations to Toronto during the week of April 12.
"On the 12th, we join up with 'Moontime Conections,' we help them package and ship everything up to the northern communities," the Strain's noted.
More information about the 'Sisters 4 Sisters' events and how to give a monetary donation can be found here.
"We have such a great community here to find that support, but not everyone has that sense of community and those opportunities," the sisters said. "So, we're just trying to band together in CK to help communities that need it."
