Registration is now open for the 2025 Chatham-Kent Polar Plunge.
The eighth annual event will take place on Saturday, January 19 at Sons of Kent Brewing with the main plunge set for 4 p.m.
"We're looking forward to being back there and doing our biggest fundraiser of the year, which is our Polar Plunge," said organizer and Chatham-Kent Police Sergeant Jason Herder. "Registration is live and we can't wait to have everyone out there again while we go Freezin' for a Reason, to raise money for Special Olympics Ontario."
The fundraising goal for the 2025 Polar Plunge is $50,000.
"We're very fortunate here in Chatham, we've had traditionally, one of the largest plunges throughout the entire province," said Herder. "We finished 4th last year in the province and the goal is to finish back in that top three, top five again for the province for fundraising dollars, and the amount of plungers."
Over 200 people registered for the 2024 event, a new record, and raised over $70,000.
This is the third year the Polar Plunge has been held at Sons of Kent with a full day of events, including a live band, DJ, and food trucks.
"I think we've got one of the best atmospheres, one of the best outside venues for the plunge," said Herder. "It's certainly second to none. We have people that come from other cities to come plunge in ours. We certainly set the standard, and we raise the bar for the other centres that put on plunges."
Registration is now open online at www.polarplunge.ca/chatham-kent.
