Coffee mug tosser charged with assault

A 20-year-old woman is facing charges after Chatham-Kent police were called to a disturbance at an apartment complex in Wallaceburg Wednesday morning.

Officers said they were called to the building shortly after 8 a.m. and learned that a woman was yelling from her apartment window at another woman who was outside in the parking lot.

One of the women then allegedly threatened to assault the other woman before throwing a coffee mug at her.

The woman accused of throwing the mug was later charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats before she was released with conditions and a future court date.

Unwanted man accused of assaulting police officer

A 43-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer who was removing him from being in a residence where he was not welcome.

Chatham-Kent police said they were dispatched to the residence in Blenheim at around 6 p.m. Wednesday and arrested the man for being unlawfully present in the residence.

While the man was being arrested, he allegedly assaulted the officer who was arresting him.

The man was charged accordingly and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
