Domestic-Related Assault

Just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a domestic dispute in the area of St. Clair Street in Chatham.

When they arrived, they learned that an argument between a man and his common-law partner had escalated and that one of the people had called police. The argument became violent when the man assaulted the woman by pushing her into the wall and throwing her to the ground.

A 62-year-old Chatham man has been charged with one count of assault. He was processed and later released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.

Failure to Appear

A 31-year-old woman is facing another charge after failing to appear in court on a mischief charge laid in June.

On June 18, police arrested a woman for mischief under $5,000, after allegedly damaging a glass window at a downtown business.

Following her arrest, the woman was released on an undertaking with a future court date, but she failed to appear. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Early Monday morning, a patrol officer found the woman on Church Street in Chatham.

She was subsequently arrested on the outstanding warrant and later released on an appearance notice, compelling her back to court at a later date.
