Benefit Gala raises over $130K for CK Hospice

A sold out fundraiser for the Chatham-Kent Hospice will ensure local families have access to compassionate, end-of-life care at no cost to them.

On Friday, the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation (CKHF) hosted its 7th Annual Benefit Gala, raising $133,068.

The evening allowed guests to hear from a local family about its experience at Chatham-Kent Hospice. Ginny Hawken, the Special Event Chair for CKHF, said that by sharing their journey, members of the family helped others understand what a difference the organization makes.

Guests also enjoyed a meal and a silent auction. This year, a Golden Ticket raffle added to the excitement, allowing the winner to snag an experience from the auction and two tickets to next year's Gala.

Anne English was selected as the lucky winner of the raffle while Dawn Campbell took home a diamond bracelet as the winner of the the ever-popular Mittons Jewellers Diamond Draw.

All the proceeds raised at the gala will be used to cover ongoing operational needs of the Chatham-Kent Hospice.

Since opening in April 2016, the 10-bed residential facility has provided care and support for over 1,450 families.
