A Chatham-Kent non-profit is getting a head start on ensuring everyone can have a great Christmas.
Chatham Goodfellows, which provides families with food hampers and children with toys, is set to launch its 70th campaign on November 1.
People who've applied in the past can reapply online if they need help again. Those who haven't applied before can call 519-354-1146 starting on November 4.
Tim Haskell, media and toy director for Chatham Goodfellows, told CK News Today they need all applications in by November 29.
"That's so we can make sure we have everything purchased that we need to put in baskets. You can't just show up and buy a whole bunch of food at once," he said.
Haskell is set to take part in his 47th campaign with the organization. He joined when he was just 10 years old, deciding to do so ever since the group gave him presents to open up on Christmas day.
"I'm very familiar with how it feels to get those gifts. It really made an impact on me over my lifetime," Haskell added.
Even though he still remembers that feeling as a kid, Haskell explained he enjoys handing out gifts even more.
Last year, Chatham Goodfellows handed out over 1,600 hampers and provided toys to around 1,300 kids. To help with costs, the organization will be accepting toys and non-perishable foods as donations.
