Unlocked SUV reported stolen in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a white Dodge Durango that was reported stolen from the area of Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg.

Police said they received a report on Wednesday that the vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight, adding that it had been left unlocked at the time of the theft.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact Constable Andrew Brown at andrewbr@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600.

Tools, fishing equipment stolen during Chatham break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a residential break-in in Chatham where someone stole some tools and fishing equipment from a garage.

Police said they were notified of the break-in in the area of Daylight Point at around 10 a.m. Wednesday and that it's believed the incident took place sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Whoever broke into the garage there took off with some tools and some fishing equipment with an estimated combined value of $5,000.

Man wanted in CK turns up in Sarnia

A 27-year-old man who was wanted on several arrest warrants in Chatham-Kent is back in custody after he was arrested in Sarnia.

Chatham-Kent police said they picked him up from Sarnia Police Headquarters on Wednesday after receiving notice that the man was in Sarnia.

He was wanted on three warrants for four counts of failing to comply with a release order, another warrant for failing to comply with a release order, and a bench warrant for failing to attend court in connection with a threats investigation.

The accused was transported to CK police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Wanted woman shows up at CK police headquarters

Chatham-Kent police didn't have to go very far to find a 42-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for failing to attend court.

Police said they arrested her at around 6 p.m. Wednesday when she showed up at Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.

She was taken into custody for processing and later released with a future court date.

Two arrests after license plate scanner hits a match

Two people are facing charges after provincial police in Chatham-Kent got a notification from their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system on Highway 401.

The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the Chatham Detachment said an officer pulled the vehicle over in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Communication Road just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

At that time, the officer also learned that the driver and the passenger were breaching some release conditions.

As a result, a 29-year-old Windsor resident was charged with failing to comply with a release order and a 19-year-old Windsor resident was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and breaching recognizance.

Both of the accused were set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
