Above normal temperatures are expected as the fall season begins.
Monday is the first full day of fall which officially arrived on Sunday, September 22 at 8:44 a.m.
Summer-like weather will continue for the start of fall according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell.
"The forecast for September and October is warmer than average," said Kimbell. "We've seen pretty remarkably warm temperatures the last little while. The normal highs for this time of year would be 21 C, and as everyone knows we've seen temperatures of 25 C to 29 C, 30 C even almost."
Kimbell said a big ridge of high pressure has contributed to the prolonged stretch of very warm and mostly dry weather we've seen so far this September.
"So looking at the precipitation anomaly, roughly the last ten days it's been extremely dry across all of Ontario except for the parts of the northwest," said Kimbell. "Thunder Bay, Timmins, everywhere southeast of that, Sudbury, Toronto, Sarnia, Windsor, Ottawa, everybody has been dryer than normal, and warmer than normal because of that ridge of high pressure.
He said it will be a wet start to the week thanks to the arrival of a low pressure system.
"Things should moderate," said Kimbell. "It won't really get cold, but because we'll have cloud cover moving in and lingering probably for at least four days or so, we'll have some showers."
Environment Canada is calling for a 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers or drizzle Monday morning.
