Mustangs from the ground and the air will be on display Saturday at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport in support of the Blenheim Medical Health Foundation (BMHF).
Open to everyone starting at 11 a.m., the entry fee is five dollars with kids 12 and under free. There will be multiple warbirds, various other airplanes, and a P-51 Mustang airplane on display till 2 p.m.
Event organizer and BMHF Board Member Jeanette Steen is the brains behind the event. She has combined her love of Mustangs and her dad's interest in warplanes to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for the hospital.
"I just said to Dad we got to do Mustangs and Mustangs sometimes, and now that I'm on the medical board, it was the perfect opportunity," said Steen.
In addition to the general public being invited to see the planes, the event is open to Mustang owners from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday to bring their cars down to the airport and with a minimum donation of $20, have photos taken alongside the P-51 Mustang. Steen explains that a professional photographer will be on-site taking photos for a $10 donation but they will also take one with the person's phone.
"Hopefully some of the Mustangs stay around as exhibitors for the general public when they open at 11," added Steen.
The event is cash-only and will have food for sale on-site with proceeds going towards the BMHF.
"Everybody has been very great they are donating everything back. They just want to be partaking," said Steen.
If it rains, the event will be moved to Sunday.
