The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres is welcoming a new family doctor to its team.
But he's not accepting any new clients right now.
Dr. Malay Shah will join the CKCHC as of Monday, June 10 at its Chatham site.
Dr. Shah is coming from Australia, where he has been working as a family practice physician since August 2018.
He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney in Medicine and Surgery and completed his fellowship at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
"My family and I are very excited to be joining the Chatham-Kent community. Earlier this year, I had an excellent opportunity to complete a locum position with the CKCHC, which I found to be quite similar to my practice in Australia," said Dr. Shah. "I appreciate the many health challenges that are faced by regional and rural towns, and look forward to using my experience to support this community."
Dr. Shah also has some close ties to the Chatham-Kent -- his wife and her family have lived in the municipality for over 40 years.
"We appreciate the many opportunities that Chatham-Kent has to offer, and we are looking forward to raising our family here," said Dr. Shah. "Many thanks to the CKCHC and the rest of the community for the very warm welcome!"
The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres provide primary health care, health promotion and community development services all under one roof and are mandated to serve the vulnerable populations and the Chatham-Kent community at large.
