UPDATE: Tecumseh Park reopened to public, police investigation continues

Chatham-Kent police continue to investigate a weapons incident that shut down a section of downtown Chatham early Monday morning.

Tecumseh Park, which was also closed to the public, was re-opened over the noon hour.

Police said that they responded just after 2 a.m. to a weapons incident on King Street West.

Officers determined that four individuals were involved in a physical fight in the area of William Street North and Murray Street, which resulted in injuries to three of them.

"All three were transported to the hospital for medical treatment," police said in a release, adding that two of the individuals have since been released. The third person was transferred to a hospital in London.

Police believe that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Paul Brophy at 519-436-6600 ext. 80619 or [email protected] or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
