The Memorial Arena in Chatham is set to reopen Saturday morning after some unexpected repairs pushed the opening day back three weeks.
Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff made the announcement on CK Mornings with Chris, Allanah, and Matt on 94.3 CKSY Wednesday morning.
Municipal officials previously said a leak was discovered under the floor and there were issues with some piping when they were running their annual tests of the compressor room system at the facility.
Chatham-Kent's Director of Parks and Facilities Rob Pollock told CK News Today on Wednesday the repairs have been finished and staff have started the ice building process.
Pollock said the ice is currently painted and staff are building the ice to an appropriate ice thickness.
The ice will be available for booking on Saturday, one day ahead of the scheduled opening date, according to Pollock.
"Arena staff would like to thank everyone for their patience during these repairs," said Pollock.

The Chatham Maroons will be back on home ice at Memorial Arena Sunday night to face St. Thomas.
