A walk to raise money to help people living with dementia will be making its way across Chatham-Kent again this year.
The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) is bringing the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's to a different local community each week, starting Wednesday, May 10th in Tilbury.
Each walk will feature mystery prizes, tribute signs, a photo frame and an interactive art piece
The Grand Finale on Saturday, May 27th will take place in Chatham at Kingston Park, will also feature live entertainment, vendors, food, games, a photo booth, live painting and more.
The details of the weekly walks are as follows:
• Northside Park Trail (Tilbury) – Wednesday, May 10 from 5:30-7p.m. • Be-Fit Trail (Blenheim) – Wednesday, May 17 from 5:30-7 p.m. • Crothers Park Trail (Wallaceburg) – Wednesday, May 24 from 5:30-7 p.m. • Kingston Park Trail (Chatham) – Saturday, May 27 from 10:00 a.m. -12 p.m.
Rain dates for all walks will be the following day at the same time.
This year the goal is to raise $60,000. In 2022 over $55,000 was brought in. Local businesses and long-term care/retirement homes are encouraged to participate in the team fundraising challenge.
The ASCK is currently looking for pictures of those affected by dementia, past or present, for their tribute signs. Those can be emailed to Joel Emery at jemery@alzheimerchathamkent.ca.
