Another drug bust on Taylor Avenue in Chatham

For at least the third time this year, Chatham-Kent police have raided a home on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.

CK police did not release a specific address in any of those cases, but said the latest search warrant was carried out on Taylor Ave. at around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit teamed up with members of the Critical Incident Response Team to seize approximately $12,870 worth of methamphetamine and fentanyl during their search.

Officers also seized a large amount of Canadian currency, some drug-related equipment, a loaded .22 caliber semiautomatic rifle, several replica firearms, and some ammunition.

Police also arrested three Chatham men in connection with the case -- one of them is facing more than 20 charges.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with seventeen counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, and one count each of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

The second suspect, a 31-year-old Chatham man, was charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

Both of those men were taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

The third suspect, a 40-year-old Chatham man, was charged with six counts of failing to comply with his probation order, five counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order, two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

On March 1, police also seized about $23,000 worth of illegal drugs and arrested four people after searching a home on Taylor Ave. in Chatham.

Then on November 22, police reported finding some methamphetamine, cocaine, and magic mushrooms along with a significant amount of cash when they searched a residence on that same street. A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested in connection with that search.
