Meth, cocaine seized during harassment investigation

A 45-year-old man is facing charges after Chatham-Kent police allegedly found some illegal drugs and some cash while they were following up on a harassment call in Chatham.

CK police said they searched the residence on Taylor Avenue just before noon on Wednesday and found some methamphetamine, cocaine, and magic mushrooms along with a "significant amount" of Canadian cash.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released pending a future court date.

Essex OPP help track down man wanted in Chatham theft

A 33-year-old Windsor man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly stole some merchandise from the Shoppers Drug Mart in Chatham on Canada Day.

CK police said they were called to the store on Grand Avenue West on July 1 and learned that the man had gone into the store, taken some items off of the shelf, and left without paying for them.

Police said they were able to review some surveillance images of the man and the vehicle he was seen driving and learned that the license plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen from Windsor in June.

Officers were able to identify a suspect in the case and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Essex County OPP arrested him on Wednesday and turned him over to CK police in Tilbury.

The accused was charged with one count of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Blenheim man arrested for assaulting his sister

A 28-year-old Blenheim man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly hit his sister twice in the same evening without being provoked.

CK police said they were called to the home in Blenheim at around 12 a.m. Thursday and took the man into custody.

He was charged with two counts of assault and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Law catches up with man wanted since April

It looks like a 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted by police since April 6 is finally ready to face the music.

Chatham-Kent police said a warrant was issued for the man's arrest after officers were called to an apartment in Chatham for a disturbance call on April 6 and learned that a man had shown up at the residence even though he had been banned from attending that address and associating with the person who lived there.

Police said the man turned himself in at Chatham-Kent police headquarters shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

He has been charged with one count of break and enter and two counts of disobeying a court order and he was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
