The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) Foundation is reassuring its donors that their personal information was not accessed or compromised as part of a recent ransomware attack that affected several area hospitals.
The CKHA Foundation sent a note to donors and supporters Friday morning to let them know that the files that were obtained during the attack does not include any donor information.
The letter, signed by the foundation's President and CEO Christine Colautti, said the Foundation stores all of its donor information on a separate third-party data manager that is not connected to the networks that were compromised as part of the attack.
The Foundation has also confirmed that their donor records are still safe and secure and no financial information from donors has been breached, either.
At this point, it appears the information that was taken from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance affected employees and not patients. Bluewater Health was the only institution where patient health records were compromised.
The investigation is ongoing and officials say it may take several months to determine whose data may have been stolen.
