Excitement is building for the fifth annual Chatham-Kent International Film Festival.
A record number of films will be shown this year at the festival, ranging from just 15 seconds to two hours in length.
"We have 41 films and a special feature film," said Founder and Festival Director Robert Bellamy. "All of the films from the Film Festival were actually submitted by people from around the world, but our special screening is one just for Chatham-Kent with a special guest."
The festival is at the Kiwanis Theatre from October 5 to 8. Day passes and festival passes will both be available with the full festival pass costing $50 for the whole weekend.
There will also be a special screening on Sunday, October 8 at 7 p.m. of the 1994 film "The Crow."
"Rochelle Davis, who played Sarah in the film, is going to be here to talk about it," said Bellamy. "Then she's sticking around all week for Crowfest."
Bellamy added that the festival is more than just films, they also have tours and panels planned.
"We have a panel from the Strain Sisters, Katie and Karissa from Chatham. They're coming to talk about their career from the beginnings to Carrie, to their own independent project that they just finished," said Bellamy. "We also have friends of ours from London coming down from Canadian Talent Agents, and they talk about what it's like to be a talent agency, how it helps the industry."
The festival wraps up on Sunday, October 8 at 5:30 p.m. with the awards.
"We have 24 judges from around the world that judge these films because we understand, as being Canadian, we may not understand a film from Iran," said Bellamy. "So we have judges from Iran, judges from Mexico, and we do by their judging points and we then we take the highest films from there and kind of build the program."
