WFCU Credit Union donates $50K to CK Community Growth and Heritage

WFCU Credit Union (WFCU) marked the grand opening of its fourteenth retail branch, located at 814 St. Clair Street in Chatham, with a commitment to the local community.

The financial institution announced several community investment initiatives during the event, demonstrating its dedication to supporting Chatham-Kent's growth and heritage.

WFCU donated a substantial $50,000 to the Scottish Borderers Foundation's 'Service, Sacrifice and Duty' capital fundraising campaign as part of these community commitments.

This campaign aims to support the Essex-Kent Scottish Regiment and sustain the funds raised perpetually through the interest earned.

Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff, Chatham-Kent Ward 6 Councillor Alysson Storey, Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Gail Hundt, and members of the Downtown Chatham BIA were among the guests at the event.

"Chatham is an important milestone for WFCU Credit Union, as it represents our continued investment in our members and fulfills a promise to bring better financial products, services and advice to more communities, both large and small," said Eddie Francis, President & CEO of WFCU Credit Union. "You'll notice WFCU actively engaging with the community by supporting our members, whether they're purchasing a new home, refinancing their existing home, seeking financial services and products, or are commercial members needing development support. While they may not all be moving west, they can count on our community involvement."

During the upcoming autumn and winter seasons, the credit union has committed to providing assistance to Habitat for Humanity's RiverRun, Crowfest, the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation's benefit gala, the Chatham Goodfellows Halloween Spooktacular, and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation's Christmas Wish Tree campaign.
