There are reports of power outages and damage across Chatham-Kent after a storm swept across the region Wednesday and Thursday morning, bringing down trees and causing flooding.
The downpour started at around 12 p.m. on Wednesday. Some areas that were hit by several rounds of thunderstorms may have been slammed with more than 50 mm of rain.
Social media was quickly flooded with images of fallen trees and flooded streets.
Photos posted to Twitter show heavy flooding in Tilbury and downed trees near Dresden.
A handful of residents near Blenheim, Thamesville, and Erieau remain without power as of 8:31 a.m. on Thursday.
Hydro One says 175 homes between Blenheim and Ridgetown lost power due to a downed tree on a power line. The power is expected to be back on by 3:30 p.m., according to Hydro One's outage map.
Roughly 80 homes near Thamesville are also without power.
Entegrus is reporting that 179 customers in Erieau are in the dark. The company says there is a fault on the line of their supplier. Power is estimated to be restored by 3:30 p.m.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the region.
The flood watch will remain in effect until Friday.
