Megabus scraps stop in Chatham

After less than half a year of service in the region, Megabus has announced it will no longer provide service from Chatham-Kent.

According to the Municipality, the company notified it that service from the downtown Chatham stop will discontinue effective Wednesday, August 16, 2023 due to lack of ridership.

The bus service company, operated by Trailways of New York, launched service from Toronto to Detroit, with stops in London, Chatham, and Windsor in April, offering two daily trips, seven days a week.

“Megabus is currently exploring the potential for an alternate stop location in Chatham-Kent closer to the 401,” read a statement from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

Those still interested in seeking transportation to or from Windsor, London, or Toronto can continue to use VIA Rail service. RideCK provides transit to the Chatham VIA Rail station using Route 3 (Southeast Loop) and Route 5 (Round the River Loop), as well as on-demand service on evenings and Sundays.

Up-to-date information regarding all things transit-related in the area can be found on all of RideCK’s social media pages or www.rideck.ca.
